Introducing Temper

As a business owner, I've often found myself wondering, "How do our customers feel about this?" or, "was that customer's experience a positive or negative one?" Figuring out the answers to those questions just hasn't been that easy. At least not without sending out surveys or making phone calls.

While surveys and phone calls can be informative, they're "high touch" and fleeting. It requires a ton of work and, even then, your customers' mood and feelings towards your business and certain parts of your product will likely change. So, we set out to solve that. Today, I'm excited to announce Temper.

What is Temper?

Temper lets you easily measure customers' moods at every touchpoint over time, allowing you to see how changes to your product or service affect their overall satisfaction.

Plainly put, you can now know how your customers feel about any aspect of your company or product. All the time.

By asking a short and simple question and giving your customers simple options to choose from (happy, neutral, sad), it's an easy response that comes directly from how they feel. No thinking about how to answer…just answering how they really feel.

How do I use it?

There are three primary ways to start using Temper: Tab, Inline and Email. You can implement these across all areas of your business and can even have multiple ones on a given page.


img-tabThe Tab hangs out at the bottom right of any page you put it on. It's great for gauging overall satisfaction or getting a broad overview of how your customers feel about your site or product.


img-inlineInline is placed within your page anywhere you'd like to get feedback on a specific item or experience. The example shown above is an "inline" question.


img-emailEmail is what it sounds like. You can put the question and smiley rating options in any email. It's fantastic for use with your customer support system to gauge how you and your staff are doing!

And then what?

Okay, so what do you do after you start collecting all this data?

You act on it. That's what.

Temper isn't a one-off survey. It's designed to be used over longer periods of time, so you can gauge shifts in your customers' moods.

We show you in multiple formats how your customers' experiences are changing so you can react accordingly.

What else?

There's quite a bit more you can do with Temper from tracking user data with their answers to displaying your last ratings on a public page to collecting comments with each rating.
